The Intermountain Healthcare Women's Council I'm part of put on our 5th Annual
Running With Angels 5K this morning. It was a huge success. Last year I just helped out at the race and Amanda came and helped too but this year Amanda and I decided to run the race as well as help. We got up bright and early to get to the course to help with packet/t-shirt pickup before the race. This picture was taken early when it was chilly and the sun was right in our eyes (that's why I look funny :)). Then we ran the race and did it in just less than 30 minutes! That was our goal so we were happy. It turned out to be a beautiful morning and running through the gardens at Thanksgiving Point was gorgeous. After the race we enjoyed some
Spoon Me frozen yogurt and other treats and helped with clean-up and take-down.
It is so neat to be involved with the Women's Council and have opportunities to help with these kind of events. Pam Hansen is who wrote the book, Running with Angels, which is about some of her trials including overcoming obesity by running. She is such an inspiration. She started this race to help bring people together who have experienced similar trials. The proceeds go to a program called Angel Watch which is a program that gives emotional and social support for families who lose their unborn or newly born babies. It's a wonderful program.

Impressive! It sounds like a great experience, especially with your sister. Talked to your parents today, they are so cool. One more day for Trevor, I can't believe it.
I know you ran the race because I cheered for you when you came across the line!! Guess you didn't see or hear me! I really liked the race. The course was a great location.. very pretty. They needed a better sound system because I don't think anybody heard Pam's announcments at the beginning of the race. It also would have been nice if it started on time. Other than that, I thought the after party was great, the stuff we got in the race packets was great, and it was well attended. Do you just love your job? I would love to plan 5k events and promote health and wellness. Any job availabilities for someone to work over the computer? You know I'm moving, but I'd be very interested. Tell Pam I'm glad she shared her story. About half of my co-workers have read the book and have changed the way they look at overweight people. Myself included.
You cheered for me?!! That is so awesome! I wish I'd heard you! It doesn't surprise me that you were WAY ahead of me! :) You should've come and found me! Yes I agree that it should've started on time and I could hardly hear Pam's announcements too. I actually don't do the Women's Council as a job, it's a volunteer thing I do outside of my job. I wish it was my job though! It's so much fun. I'll pass along your comments to Pam. Thanks for your support!
