Brandon's 26th Birthday

Brandon celebrated his 26th birthday yesterday. I planned a pretty fun-filled day for him :). He woke up and played softball and came home to a big breakfast. I got the cinnamon burst bread at Sweet Harvest to make French toast and I also got their pumpkin chocolate chip bread. It was fresh out of the oven so it was still warm when everyone came over! You can't go to Sweet Harvest without getting a loaf of the pumpkin chocolate chip bread! His brother Jason and our friends, Blake and Laurissa, came over to eat breakfast with us.

Then we went and saw a band called Truman play at Riverwoods mall. Two brothers Ben and Chad started the band. They are from Nashville but went to BYU so they have a local following. They opened for Kelly Clarkson a few weeks ago and that was when we first heard them and loved them. They just barely recorded their first cd so when we got to Riverwoods and found where they were going to perform we went and bought their cd first thing. There weren't that many people there so the Truman brothers saw us buy their cd and when they started playing, they said, "Our first song goes out to those two over there who already bought our cd!" and they pointed to us. It was awesome! Haha. They played for about an hour and we loved it. Brandon's brother Jason and his friend met us there too. If you want to listen to their music and learn more about them, click here. My favorite song is "I Want You There".

Then we went out to eat at Chili's, saw a movie, and played some Guitar Hero World Tour. Today I made dinner and cake to bring over to Brandon's sister Lindsey's house. Lindsey's birthday was Friday so we had a joint birthday celebration for them. I found a recipe for the supposed "best" chocolate cake and it was a little more complicated than normal. The middle layer was mascarpone mousse and the frosting was ganache. It was very rich but it was pretty good. Happy Birthday Brandon and Lindsey!
