The Bowens came to visit us for the weekend! It was sooo much fun. It was our first time meeting Sergei, Ashley and Erin's newly adopted son from Russia. He's fifteen years old and completely adorable. He is so sweet and funny. We loved him to death the second we saw him and loved him more and more by the minute. He was so great with Josh. He played with Josh the whole weekend and Josh followed him around. Josh loved playing with him. They were little buddies. It was great to get to know Sergei and catch up with Ashley and Erin (Ashley is Brandon's sister. They live in Atlanta.).They got here Friday night and after hanging out with Josh for a little bit before he went to bed, we watched the BYU football game and talked. Saturday morning we went out for breakfast at Blue Moon Diner which was to-die-for delicious. Then we drove up the Carter Mountain Orchard to pick out a few pumpkins and get some apples. It was freezing so we enjoyed some hot apple cider and grabbed an apple pie on our way out. Then we went home and carved pumpkins and baked pumpkin seeds. Then Brandon made yummy panini's for dinner.
Then everyone went to the UVA men's soccer game but Josh and I stayed home. I put Josh to bed and spent the evening getting ready for church the next day. On Sunday Erin's brother Todd and his family came to our house from DC and spent the afternoon with us. Ashley and Erin made yummy au jus roast beef sandwiches with yummy sides for dinner and later we ate the hot apple pie with whipped cream and ice cream, which was heavenly. The best apple pie I've ever had. Then we just hung out until Brandon drove them to Richmond later that night to catch an early morning flight back home.We are so glad they could come see us. Ashley and Erin are amazing parents. I always learn a lot from them. They are such a great family. We feel so grateful to have them as family members.
This was Josh's first time meeting a cousin and boy did they hit it off!
